What is being conserved?
The conservatory began with a practical promise: keep fragile things alive through a season they could not survive outside. The gardeners brought in cuttings, seeds, and plants whose homes had disappeared as the city grew.
Then the oak outgrew its plan. A branch crossed a walkway. Roots lifted a stone. The gardeners moved the walkway, and left the stone where it had landed. Making room became part of the work.
No one planted the Enigmas. They arrived in the spaces the plans had missed: under a fern, beside a loose pane, in the seam between two systems. Unmatched bits of code, still carrying their crooked shapes and one improbable limb. Here they found somewhere to exist without first becoming useful.
Perhaps that is what the conservatory keeps now: living things, unfinished things, and room for what we have not yet learned how to name. The Enigmas stay because the garden keeps leaving spaces open. They come and go by their own paths.
There is a doorway at the forest edge. Its guardian gathers depth out of lines, one hand held open. Sometimes a flat shape slips across the threshold. The doorway gives the Enigmas a way in; the garden gives them reasons to stay.
Use W A S D or the arrow keys to explore the whole room: planting beds, rocks, seats, branches, and beams. Leaves brush past you. Drag the view to look around. On a phone, use the walking arrows.
Open Explore to choose a place, sit quietly, pause walking, or find your notebook. Choosing a place follows a path when you are on one, or brings you back there from a climbing spot. Double-click a clear path for a guided walk. You can take over at any moment. Back to entrance is always available.
Press Space or Jump anywhere. Hold Space beside a solid surface and move toward it to climb, including the tree, furniture, and framework. Hold C to climb down; release to drop onto the surface below. On a phone, hold the climb buttons while using the walking arrows. Paddle with the walking controls in water, climb out at the bank, or press E to return to solid ground.
Movement hints fade after you have walked and looked around. Find them here whenever you need them. Escape pauses walking. Sound is optional: water gathers near the stream, leaves stir near the boughs, and a nearby Enigma may make a small call. Sitting quietly gives encounters more time. Small inhabitants have their own paths; a place may be empty when you return. If you notice one, you can click it.
